Adnan Syed Guilty or Innocence

the murderer or wrongly accused?

On October 11, 2022, prosecutors announced the withdrawal of the charges against Saeed. Completely overturned the murder of high school student Hae Min Lee in 1999. Since a popular podcast program, "Serial," described the relevant case in detail, the case has attracted the attention of a large number of netizens, and the case finally ushered in a turning point.

Serial: Season One

I would like to share my opinion based on the Podcast "Serial" and other news websites in this blog. Sharing my opinion in the blog format allows me to articulate my thoughts more organized and allows my readers to share and discuss their opinions under my post. Compared to other media formats, such as Vlogs or Podcasts, blogs allow readers to refer back to the information or details they want to read again.

Until now, there is a lack of evidence to show that Adnan Syed killed his former high school girlfriend. Besides, the two witnesses provided different testimonies on whether Adnan had an alibi when Hae was killed. From my perspective, I agree with those people who think Adnan is innocent because of several reasons. First, the evidence is not sufficient to convict that Adnan is guilty. The former lawyer of Adnan did not consider and provide evidence that Asia McClain said she saw Adnan in the library that day. Besides, the police did not test the DNA on the physical evidence they found on Hae. When it is hard to decide whether a person is guilty, we should assume that this person is innocent because that will make us discriminate against this person, and this will be a life-long sentence for this person. Second, there are different voices in terms of the alibi of Adnan. His friend Jay Wilds said Adnan said he killed Hae, and Jay had helped Adnan bury Hae's body; however, Asia said she and her boyfriend saw Adnan in the library that afternoon when Hae was killed. There are some counterarguments between those testimonies, and one person must be unreliable. Thus, this case needs further exploration, and Adnan will not be sentenced to guilty until all the evidence is clear.

All in all, in my opinion, one person should not be sentenced guilty when the truth comes out. Finding the truth and fairness is essential to protect everyone's rights, so I think Adnan is innocent for now.
